Celebrating the special mothers in our lives during this strange time can be difficult, but if you're in Martin County, or anywhere in South Florida, you may have more options than you realized. With most of our local businesses up and running, spending a day out on the town with that special woman in your life is finally becoming a reality again. With Mother's Day right around the corner, we wanted to share some of our ideas on how you can treat that special someone so they feel as loved as they are.
Every Girl's Favorite...Brunch
A great brunch experience requires a little planning ahead. There are many options for brunch on Mother's Day, we recommend enjoying a beach or river view wherever you are. You can't go wrong with beachfront dining in Jensen Beach at Kyle G's or Hutchinson Shores, or a riverfront experience in Stuart at Sailor's Return or Tidehouse. Some of these spots have Sunday brunch specials that can be a great time for you and your special someone. These get booked up for Mother's Day so call ahead!....seriously, stop reading this and call for a reservation now!
If you'd like something a little more lowkey, we love our friends at Gilbert's Coffee Bar for a specialty drink and small bites while you sit outside and enjoy the views of the St. Lucie River in the Sunset Bay Marina.
Have a Good Flower Game
Publix flowers are all fine and good, but we'd recommend stepping it up a little bit for this holiday. Support a local florist. Our favorite is A Goode Floorist in Stuart, who we often use when needing to spruce up a client's new remodel or our showroom. Their selection is outstanding, and you can order ahead of time for delivery all through their website or over the phone.
If you want to step up your flower game even more and keep her thinking of you all year, you can't go wrong with Eternity Roses from Venus et Fleur. These are roses that can last over a year with no water! You may have seen these in our showroom if you've stopped by recently.
Another option, that takes a little planning and getting your hands dirty, is planting some local roses and wildflowers and growing a bouquet for your special someone right outside their window.
Picnic or Take-out at Home
If going out to a restaurant isn’t on the menu, or you want something even more intimate, grab a blanket, cheeseboard and some wine and head out to the beach or a quiet park for some fresh air and good conversation. Head to the beach or Flagler Park for a great place for a picnic, you can even stop by the Stuart Green Market between 9am and 2pm to help fill your picnic basket beforehand!
If your Sunday is better spent indoors, get her favorite morsels delivered with Postmates or Uber Eats or even go the DIY route and make her breakfast in bed! Get the kids in on it and make it extra special and with some fresh Florida oranges and squeeze her some homemade orange juice. Add some Prosecco and make her a Mimosa for even more fun!
For the rest of the year, she is going to be on the move and taking care of herself and those around her. Women love to look and feel good, so make today your treat to her when it comes to self-care.
Pamper her. Get her some lavender bath bombs, a good book, and a great scented candle to inspire her to relax and take a little “me time” when she has a moment. Whisk the kids away for a little play date during this time so she can be at peace.
Book a spa day for her and you. You can make it a day at a local spa or a whole weekend at a resort. For staying local, we recommend The Retreat in downtown Stuart for a unique day of rejuvenation.
Unfortunately, many of the resorts in our area are still limiting spa packages due to COVID. There are some places not too far away that have reopened, however. We can highly recommend a short trip down I95 to Eau Spa in the Palm Beach area if you want a knock-your-socks-off relaxing experience for a day trip or even an overnight stay at their resort. If Palm Beach Gardens is more your vibe, PGA National offers a great experience as well.
Self-care spa gift sets are great gifts that she won’t typically get for herself. Every girl loves a good moisturizing!
Don't Forget the Card!
Turn up the sappy and cheesy!
Above all else, a heartfelt, handwritten card between you is the most important part of making her feel loved and appreciated. Don't buy a sappy card and just write "Happy Mother's Day!" on it. Put a little more effort into it, tell her how much she means to you and how thankful you are for her. It will make her day!
Whatever role the women in your life have played, do a little something special for them this year.
We are a home design website so we would be remiss if we didn't mention setting up a remodel project with her! Believe it or not, we have helped several clients to surprise their loved ones with remodel projects, we can work with you to make that first sit down meeting extra special, whatever the occasion may be.
We take the stress out of the renovation part and will work closely with you and her to design her dream kitchen or bathroom.
Bonus points if you also plan an extended vacation during the construction phase!
